I was bored and feeling crafty so I decided to spruce up our front yard! Everything (besides the flowers and mulch) is something that I fixed up or re-purposed from the house.
The 'S' on the door just needed some fresh paint and I added the flowers, lace, and twine with some hot glue. The rug was one we had and I used some red fabric paint to add on the 'hello." I painted the chevron onto a terracotta pot and I just transferred the plant from our back yard. The chalkboard is made from a chalkboard painted piece of cardboard that I cut to fit in an old frame. The bamboo is something that I was going to use for another project, but I decided to cut it in half and put it in an old candle holder and add it by the door. I put the flowers in a basket that I had bought a while ago in the Target dollar section and the lanterns are actually Christmas decorations that I bought on clearance at Target last year. I weeded the flower beds and just laid down some black mulch to give it a clean look.
I'm really pleased with how everthing turned out and my husband is pretty happy that it only cost me $7 (for the mulch and flowers)! This just goes to show that a little creativity can go a long way and that not everything has to be used exactly as you might think! A little thinking outside of the box can go a long way!
