Dallas at Twenty-one Weeks

Dallas was very busy this week! We had things to do, places to go, and people to see! Dallas loves when we are busy and out of the house. He is less fussy and more stimulated when we are running around.

He has been SO talkative this week and I managed to get a couple of good videos of him babbling (click here to watch "Chatty" and click here to watch "Make Some Noise")! His noises crack me up and they seem to come at the most random times! I am loving this chatty phase and can't wait to see what new noises he'll be making in the next few weeks!

Dallas and I went to the zoo on Thursday with some friends and we had a blast! He is still too little to know whats going on, but he enjoyed being outside and looking at everything going on around him. None of the animals really caught his attention, except for the warthogs. For whatever reason he seemed to enjoy watching them move around.

Ben took the day off on Friday and we decided to spend the day at the beach. Dallas absolutely loves the beach and being in the water! I was so glad that Ben had the day off and that we got to spend the time together as a family.

Today Dallas got to meet some new buddies at a friends house. Most of our friends have older or younger babies so it was fun to watch him interact with babies close to his own age. I would love to see him spend some more time around babies close to his age! He definitely enjoyed it and I know there are benefits to him being around other babies. He can observe and learn from them, plus the social interaction would be good for him!

Well I hope y'all had a great week like we did! Happy 21 weeks Dallas James!

Dallas at Twenty Weeks

Dallas and I did a lot of running around this week. I had so many errands to run and things to get done and Dallas loved tagging along! He loves to get out of the house and enjoys car rides and walking around in his stroller.
Our friends had their little girl on Saturday so Dallas finally got to meet his first lil girlfriend! We went to visit them in the hospital, but Dallas was only interested in looking at her for a few seconds! I'm sure as they both get older they'll become best buds!
Dallas started spitting this week too, and he just thinks it's so funny! He loves the noise when he buzzes his lips together. He has been covered in drool all week! He does it when he's eating too so my husband and I have been sprayed with green beans a few times.
Dallas is also learning how to use his hands better and he grabs onto anything and everything! I love it when he touches my face and how he can hold things on his own now, but he also likes to grab and pull my hair! He's always got strands of my hair tangled in his fingers, little shit lol
All in all we had a really great week and I can't wait to see what this next week has in store for us!

Instagram Shop @beegleandboo

So I finally got my Instagram (IG) shop up and running! I posted several of Dallas' pre-worn clothes along with several hand-made items that I also sell in my Etsy shop. It was very easy to set up, the hardest part is finding the time to take the pictures and list the item specifications.

To start off I created a new IG account because I didn't want to post on my personal account. I chose to use @beegleandboo since that is the same name as my Etsy shop. Then I listed my shop policies: First Paypal wins. No returns. Shipping and handling and Paypal fees included.

Finally I started posting my items. I took most of the pictures with the IG in-app camera because then you don't have to worry about cropping the picture into a square. I listed what brand and size the item was and how much it would cost. You can list more information about the quality if you want to, but it is not necessary. For some listings I used the Picsart app to make a collage. This can be helpful if you want to show multiple pictures of one item. For instance if there is a small stain that you want to show a close up of, if there are multiple pieces to an outfit, or if you want to show the item being worn or used. Another app that can be helpful for your IG shop is Textgram. You can use this app to add text to a picture.

When someone decides to purchase an item they will leave their Paypal email address. Then you just log-in to your Paypal, click Request Money, and then Create an Invoice. Input all of the requested information including the price, item description, and due date. If you choose to charge seperately for shipping and handling and/or Paypal fees you can enter those amounts in the invoice. Paypal charges 2.9% plus $0.30 per transaction and you can either cover this expense yourself or ask your buyer to pay it, just make sure you disclose that information in your shop policies.

Finally, once the invoice has been paid you must ship the item(s). I prefer to ship through Paypal but you can also just take your items into the Post Office, UPS, FedEx, etc. From my experience Paypal has the cheapest shipping through the USPS. When an invoice is paid, it gives you an option to print a shipping label. The recipients address pre-fills and you just have to input the weight and shipping method. There is a picture at the bottom of this post that shows shipping prices by weight. I just use a kitchen scale to weigh my item(s), print the label, and then I pack the item(s) into a polymailer. You can get a couple hundred polymailers from Ebay for under $15.

To promote your shop you can do giveaways or share other shops and ask them to share your shop in return aka "share for share." You can also re-post items or screenshots to remind people what you have in your shop. The more you put into it, the more you'll get out!

And that is the basics to setting up and IG shop!! If you are new to the world of IG shops I suggest you read my post Must Read for Mommas: Instagram Shops. This post further explains how IG shops work and how to purchase items from other IG shops. You can also follow my shop or some of the others listed in the post to see how everything is done. I have included some pictures of some of the items I have for sale in my shop as examples. If you have any questions feel free to ask!

Dallas at Nineteen Weeks

We had a kind of "blah" week, but still managed to have some fun! I was busy most of the week getting my Etsy shop up and running so Dallas was grumpy because he was not getting as much attention ;)

We didn't have anything major happen this week. Dallas was very talkative and extremely squirmy, even more so then usual. His new favorite things to do include putting his hands in Mom and Dad's mouth, putting his feet in his mouth, and pulling Mom's hair! We managed to get one video of him laughing (you can watch by clicking here) but that is the only laughter we got out of him all week!

We just got home from the beach today and we had a lot of fun there! Dallas went into the ocean for the second time and he loved it! He ate a few mouthfulls of sand and licked plenty of saltwater off of me; it'll be interesting to see what tonight's diaper looks like!

We also got good news from the Doctor this week. Dallas went from 12.4lbs to 13.3lbs in just over two weeks! The Doctor said that he is happy with the weight gain and that everything should be fine! With the way Dallas has been eating I am honestly surprised that he didn't gain more weight!

We are going to finish off this week by having a nice relaxing night at home! Dallas is passed out on me now and when he wakes up it'll be time for him to eat some green beans! I'm going to get off of here now so I can enjoy some snuggle time with my lil man!

My Etsy Shop Is Open...Finally!!

After a few days of really getting down to business, my Etsy shop, BeegleandBoo, is finally open!! I have had so many ideas in my head for so long and I finally found some time to get them out!
I named my shop BeegleandBoo because those are the silly names that my husband and I call eachother! My husbands name is Ben so I call him "B" and that somehow turned into Beegle and he uses Boo more than my real name! I think that the shop name represents the fun and quirky style that my items have!

In my shop you can find hand-stamped and hand-dyed children's leggings and shirts. I will eventually be adding onesies and maybe even some adult sized shirts to my shop. I hope that you all will stop by and check everything out!

Dallas at Eighteen Weeks

It was another big week of changes for us! Little man had his first laugh! We've been trying to coax one out of him for weeks now, but it just wasn't happening. His Daddy finally got him to laugh on Thursday and it was the most beautiful sound I've ever heard (click here to watch video)!

Dallas also switched from peas to carrots this week and he just can't get enough of them (click here to watch a video of my messy eater)! He has a bottle of prune juice twice a day, to help with some constipation problems he's been having, and carrots mixed with rice cereal for lunch and dinner. He is also breastfeeding every 2 hours or so, so hopefully his weight will be up from his last Doctors appointment. We have the follow-up appointment on Thursday so I am excited to see if anything has changed!

My lil' monkey, or as my Papa calls him, "Munker Bunker," is also becoming better at controlling his body. When you hold him he will reach out and touch your face, I absolutely love it when he puts his little hand on my cheek! He has become so much better at holding his toys and controlling his grasp as well. I enjoy watching him grab and play with his stuffed animals and teethers. He has also become much more squirmy and he loves flailing his arms and legs around! I caught him fist pumping this week and just had to get a video (click here to watch)!

We sure have enjoyed this week with our baby boy and we are looking forward to week 19!

Eighteen Weeks!

Drinkin' that prune juice!

2013 Ultimate Blog Party

Ultimate Blog Party 2013

This is my first time doing a "Blog Party!" I am fairly new to the blogging world, but so far I am really enjoying the connections I have made, and I am hoping to make many more through the 2013 Ultimate Blog Party!

About Me
I am 22, a SAHM, and wife to my amazing husband Ben. We just had our first child, Dallas, on 12/1/12. Ben is in the Air Force and we are currently stationed at Hickam AFB in Hawaii.

I started Serenity & Bliss blog because I wanted to stay better connected with my family and friends. We are so far away from home and this is a great way for me to share our lives with them. I also am looking to connect with other moms and enjoy sharing tips and advice on raising children! I also enjoy sharing recipes, craft ideas, beauty tutorials, travel ideas, and just any good ideas in general!! I have some grand plans for this blog and look forward to what is to come!

Breaded Crescent Roll Wrapped Chicken Cordon Bleu

Whew that is quite the title! I was inspired to try this recipe by a picture I saw on Pinterest. Unfortunately, the link to the recipe was broken so I had to improvise. My version turned out delicious and this is definitely one of my new favorite recipes!

Grocery List (serves four)
4 Chicken breasts
1 Egg
1 Cup of Italian bread crumbs
1 Package of Pillsbury crescent rolls
8 Slices of ham
8 Slices of swiss cheese

Pre-heat oven to 350ยบ. Beat egg in a small bowl. Pour 1 cup of Italian bread  crumbs in another small bowl. Coat each chicken breast with egg and then drag it through the Italian bread crumbs so that each breast is evenly  coated. Bake chicken for approximately 40 minutes.

Remove chicken from oven and allow it to cool for a few minutes. Layer 2 slices of swiss cheese and 2 slices of ham on top of each chicken breast. Then wrap 2 crescent rolls around each breast. Bake chicken for an additional 12-15 minutes or until crescent rolls are golden brown.

I hope you guys enjoy this one as much as I did!

Our Easter

We had a very nice, relaxing Easter this year. Ben and I were out late with friends on Saturday so we decided to do brunch instead of breakfast so we could have a chance to sleep in! After dragging ourselves out of bed I cooked brunch and we all pigged out!

Later on some friends came over and surprised us by breaking cascarones over our heads! I had never heard of this tradition but it is so fun! Basically, it is a hollowed out egg filled with confetti; when cracked over the head it is said to bring good luck! After vacuuming up the confetti we all lounged around for a while before heading out to do the Makapu'u hike.

We have done the Makapu'u hike at least five or six times and it is one of our favorites! It is a two mile round-trip hike with breathtaking views of the coastline, mountains, and an old lighthouse. At the top of the hike we got lucky and ended up seeing about 20 or so whales! There was a momma and baby splashing around together and several others that surfaced and splashed. It was so cool! After our hike we ended up stopping at Outback for a delicious dinner!

All in all we had a great day and it really made me realize how lucky I am to have such a wonderful family! I hope you all had a wonderful Easter too!
